Adidas - NMD 2016

We were asked to create an ambient film for playback in an Adidas concept store (Tokyo) as part of the launch of the new NMD shoe.

The original idea for the visual was based around the science of cymatics (the study of wave phenomena), in this case visualising sound.

Our film mimics well known Chladni figures (certain patterns appear at certain frequencies) in a simulated non-newtonian fluid.

The installation film required a fixed overhead view of the shapes, but we really liked a lot of the tests that came out in our r&d so the above film is an alternative directors cut that explores the forms in more detail.
